Icebergs Dining Room and Bar - Bondi

Bondi Beach is famous for many things and one of those things is the Bondi Icebergs swimming club which contains the Icebergs Dining room and bar.

To celebrate my husband's recent birthday I booked a table at the iconic restaurant. Being an Icebergs virgin I wasn't too sure what to expect, I knew it was famous and overlooked the ocean however after reading some negative reviews online there was some doubt in my mind.

When we arrived for an early dinner at 6:30 pm we were warmly greeted by the staff.  The timing was a lot earlier than what we are accustomed to however it was perfect. We were seated next to one another facing the window were we enjoyed the beautiful view in full light, as the sun set and the evening lights of Bondi and surrounding suburbs were switched on.

Acting like a tourist I took plenty of happy snaps to mark the occasion.

The menu was impressive, containing primarily seafood dishes. To start we ordered an open crab lasagna and local shrimp. The open crab lasagna was the winner, the pasta was cooked to my liking and the crab and broth it sat in was delicious!

For our mains we both ordered fish, a whole snapper for my husband and a piece of rainbow trout for myself with a side of fries and salad to share. All fish dishes came with a sauce, we tried both sauces that were available however found the sea urchin butter the better of the two.

For dessert I ordered a chocolate liquor dessert topped with berry granita and a toffeed slice of orange. Sitting in a glass cup the dessert looked nice however it was a little to tart for my liking which was a shame given I had thoroughly enjoyed the entree and main.

Overall I was impressed, the staff were nice enough (no snobbery as per some reviews I had read), the location and view was perfect and the food besides the dessert I ordered was great. The meals weren't cheap however at the same time the bill wasn't as high as what I had expected. If you are in the area and looking for a nice restaurant I recommend visiting the Icebergs Dining Room and Bar.
